Christmas Cake Bake Challenge

Christmas was the theme, and the holiday spirit definitely filled the air at Patty Jackson’s Inaugural Cake Bake Challenge. There were contestants from bakeries all over the Philadelphia area who showed off their baking and decorating skills. From simple and classic designs, to elaborately sculpted art pieces, the competition was definitely fierce and everyone wanted a “piece” of that elusive trophy. The event was presented by MyNewPhilly and Phillycious and was hosted by radio personality and Philly icon Patty Jackson.

Each cake was judged on Decoration, Presentation, Taste and Texture. Some of the themes that were submitted included: “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” by BB’s Sweet Creations, “The Not So Silent Night”, “Favorite Christmas Movies” by Karilyn’s Kakes, “Charlie Brown Christmas” by Kriebel’s Custom Bakery, and a Frozen inspired Olof cake called “Chillin by the Fire” made by Trieces Treates.

As the judges went around to make their decisions, the audience was given the tedious and grueling task of tasting all the cakes. Surely this was a tough job, but it had to be done. The cakes all had their unique qualities; some of them included fruit fillings, others had different flavored tiers, and some had frosting while others had fondant. However, all the cakes had one thing in common, they were all absolutely delicious, The task of the judges was surely an extremely difficult one, but at the end the trophy went to The Fancy Crumb with her amazingly lifelike “Christmas Elf” cake.
