Philly Feastival 2017
Another Philadelphia Feastival in the books, and it was a dream come true for all food lovers and guests. The annual event is a fundraiser to benefit FringeArts and brings together over eighty of the best restaurants in the city, hosted by a literal who’s who of the Philly restaurant scene such as Mike Solomonov, Stephen Starr and Nicholas Elmi. This year was extra special as it also gave the guests a chance to celebrate and recognize the top James Beard award wins of Starr, Solomonov and Greg Vernick.
The evening was full of fantastic food and drinks from the absolute best restaurants in the city. Some highlights included hand-made sushi by Jesse Ito himself of Royal Izakaya (who was just added to the 2017 Zagat 30 under 30 list), A Fire Pit by Solomonov and Nick Macri of La Divisa Meats that pumped out some of the best mini kabobs known to man, a melt in your mouth Pork Belly bite with apricot mostarda and pickled cabbage by Bank & Bourbon, and an entire “Backstage” area dedicated to everything Stephen Starr.
The live auction was also a massive success as some of the top bids were upwards of $25,000 and included personal cooked meals by Solomonov and Elmi for up to 20 guests. As if having two of Philly’s top chefs on stage wasn’t enough, there was also a special guest appearance by Marc Vetri to further increase some of the bids. The auction ended with the closing words of former Gov. Ed Rendell who spoke about how the restaurant scene has really helped in the transformation of Philadelphia.
Guests were also entertained throughout the evening by dazzling dance performances and an energetic and lively band that kept the party going all night long. Feastival is definitely one of the best culinary and social events of the year and the best part is that it's all for a great cause as the proceeds help support FringeArts and allows them to further enrich our city through art and cultural programming all year long.
