What's New in Philly Food

An Evening In The Garden With No Kid Hungry

May 24, 2018

It's always heartwarming to see a group of people working together for the benefit of others. In this case, we had a lineup of All-Star Philly Chefs join forces to help children in need across the country. This Evening In The Garden event was held at the Philadelphia Horticultural Society Pop Up Garden to benefit No Kid Hungry, an organization that is determined to end child hunger nationwide by ensuring all children get the nourishment they need to live a healthy life.

The annual tasting event featured food and drinks made by The City’s most talented people and a raffle with unique prizes to help raise even more money for the charity.

Guests were able to sample the delicious food and watch the master chefs in action in the beautiful garden setting with live music filling the air.

The chef lineup included:

Nick Elmi (Royal Boucherie, Laurel, ITV)

Daniel Eddy (Walnut Street Cafe)

Jesse Ito (Royal Izakaya)

John Patterson (Fork)

Greg Vernick ( Vernick Food & Drink)

Townsend Wentz (Townsend, Oloroso)

Chef Greg Vernick’s Grilled Pork and Spring Onion Sausage with Braised Romano Beans

Chef Jesse Ito’s Tontoro Nigiri (Pork Jowl)

Chef Daniel Eddy’s Cuban Sandwich with Roast Pork, Ham, Swiss Cheese and Pickles

Chef John Patterson’s Traditional Backbone Stew with White Rice
